A Unique Program for Learning Life Skills
Our program is focused on teaching Self-Defense, Fitness and Character-based Life Skills in a safe and fun environment.
At Marina Tae Kwon Do we have developed a unique Life Skills curriculum that has been helping children like yours gain the character building tools that will be integral for their success later in life. No other activity or sport can match up. Tools like perseverance, positive mental attitude, self discipline and goal setting aren’t always communicated effectively in school and are often missing in team sports.
When a child is confident about their ability to protect themselves, they become equipped to deal with the school-yard bully without fighting. Likewise, when a child is fit and confident about their body and themselves, they are prepared to deal with life’s peer pressures that begin surface at this age. In our classroom, a challenging fitness workout is tailored to each child which includes segments about dangers they may encounter and added safety precautions they can take. These subjects are approached in a way that is safe and not threatening to the child. In addition students are taught about nutrition and the benefits of taking care of their bodies. In combination with our confidence-building curriculum, students are given the tools to handle peer pressure and make healthy choices about exercise, food, drugs, and smoking.
Positive Reinforcement
We want our students to feel successful every time they attend class. In our classroom, your child will develop a “Yes I Can” attitude that will carry over into school and other activities. Whenever a child tries their best, they are rewarded through an extensive system of stickers, patches and verbal recognition. This unique system, with the positive reinforcement of our trained instructors, adds up to an unbeatable curriculum for teaching your child to have a positive mental attitude…something we call a Black Belt Attitude.
Goal Setting and Life Skills Outside of Our School
Our unique system of earning belts is structured to guide your child through 12 exciting stages. These stages are designed to show children how to set and achieve goals. When a child achieves their short-term goals over and over, it leads to the development of true self-esteem and self-appreciation.
However, it’s not enough that our students have physical skills alone. In order for our students to be promoted to their next belt, they must have their parents and school teachers sign a form that states that they have been doing their best in school and at home. This level of responsibility drives home the message that character is a requirement for our students to achieve the coveted Black Belt. It also gives you, the parent, a powerful tool to reinforce desirable behavior at home and at school.
In addition, our children’s programs encourage your child to form high personal standards and respect for themselves and others. Your child will gain the confidence to say “no” to unhealthy pressure and learn how to defeat the school-yard bully without fighting.
Does your child think like a Black Belt?
At Marina Tae Kwon Do any student, no matter how new, can think like a Black Belt. Being a black belt is not merely about who can kick the fastest, nor is it about who can jump the highest. It is about having the attitude that you can overcome any challenge that comes your way. Although no one is naturally born with a positive disposition at all times, it is a skill that can be learned and practiced by anyone. Having a Black Belt Attitude is something that anyone can do with consistency, persistence and the will-power to succeed. At Marina Tae Kwon Do we help you succeed one step at a time and help you to become the best you can be. Studying at Marina Tae Kwon Do will bring out the Black Belt in you.

What is the biggest obstacle to your child’s success? Most likely, your child’s first and foremost challenge does not come from the neighborhood bully. It comes, instead, from life challenges that keep them from being their best at home, in school, and with their friends.
Overactive, inattentive children who learn to channel their energy and focus their attention will do better in school and enjoy learning throughout life. In our classroom they learn to focus that energy.
Shy children can develop a winning attitude through successful mastering of achievable goals and positive classroom experiences. Without those positive experiences, children are, many times, afraid of trying anything new because they are convinced they’ll fail or become embarrassed. They can learn to overcome their fears with guidance of a qualified instructor and an environment of teamwork.
Children who are not physically fit gain strength and self-confidence from our classes. As their physical abilities increase they gain tremendous self-esteem and self-worth. These feelings of “I can” create a positive learning environment wherever they go.
