A Part of the Community for 30 Years
As a martial art school, Marina Tae Kwon Do has set the example for community involvement by annually donating over $1,000 in gift certificates to local schools and non-profit fundraising groups. Our instructors are regularly scheduled speakers at school career days and classroom educational programs which include martial arts demonstrations, plus they teach safety awareness. The school has received awards from the American Cancer Society and the Culver City Rotary Club for fundraising and contributions to charity programs.
Annually, Marina Tae Kwon Do hosts a variety of opportunities for students to contribute their time and energy to charitable causes. They have a great time while gaining the personal benefits of helping others. There are food and toy drives during the holiday season, and the Kick-A-Thon to benefit the American Cancer Society in the summer. Over the last four years the Kick-A-Thon has grown to involve at least half the school student body, and become an opportunity for our students to see how their efforts benefit others. Each year the Marina Tae Kwon Do Kick-A-Thon and Fundraising Team collect $1,000's to help the American Cancer Society in its efforts to fight cancer.
As you can see, one of the Life Skills we believe is integral to becoming a true martial artist is giving back to the community. We offer our students many opportunities to learn teamwork and leadership skills while they are helping others.
Seasonal activities also give our students an opportunity to develop friendships among a peer group that is positive and motivated. Safety awareness days, bowling parties, summer picnics, Bring a Friend to class days, and holiday parties all promote friendship and comradery as well as entertain families and students of all ages. Most events feature an explosive martial arts demonstration by our Marina Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Demonstration Team.
